10 Years of Suunto Outdoor Sports Instruments

Over the last 10 years, with Suunto products on their wrists, adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts reached the most remote regions of the world.

Suunto traces its roots back over seventy years when its founder, avid outdoorsman Tuomas Vohlonen, patented a liquid-filled compass small enough to be hand-carried. Tuomas' goal was to make a device that was reliable, stable, and easy to use. Over the decades, Suunto engineers and designers followed in Tuomas' footsteps by combining their strength in precision mechanics with new skills in electronics.

In 1998 the legendary Suunto Vector was launched - the culmination of years of inspired technology. Quite a few innovations have been made since then, as Suunto trod the path to become a leader in manufacturing precision outdoor instruments.

This year Suunto celebrates the 10th anniversary of Suunto's Outdoor Sports Instruments, and a decade of showcasing quality design, high-tech accuracy, and dependability.

But the real accomplishments were made by those who used Suunto products.

Over the last 10 years, Suunto Outdoor Sports Instruments earned the trust of professional climbers and adventurers. In fact, climbers with Suunto's products on their wrists reached the most remote regions of the world: from the formidable conditions in isolated Antarctica to the supremely challenging but spell-binding Himalayan peaks, and climbed the Seven Summits - the highest peaks on each of the seven continents...
